Under 12 & 13

This season All junior and youth cricket has moved from from school year grades to age determined grades ,determined by the child’s age as at 1st April 2020. Enrolments for Under 12 & 13 for the 2019-20 seasons are now open and will close on 30th September, 2019. Teams will be advised in mid October. However, players may enroll after the close off date depending on available team places. Please contact the club if you wish to enroll your child after the close off date. Unless player numbers permit there will be no team trials (see selection policy) . All registered Under 12 & under 13 players will have the option to be considered for the Pink Ball teams (afternoon 30 over cricket), and if numbers dictate will be asked to take part in trials. Teams will be advised in mid October once finalised.

Under 12 &13 cricket teams play in either the Cricket Express Junior League (CEJL) Saturday morning T20 smash competition with a white ball or the limited overs 30 over Pink ball competiton Saturday afternoon. All teams play with a junior size Hard Ball 142g.

The CEJL cricket competition involves teams from the Greater Auckland area. Games are played at venues throughout the region. Detailed maps are located on the Auckland Cricket Association website.

The 2018-19 playing season for Under 12 & 13 is as follows:

Start date: Saturday 2nd November 2019

Last playing day before Christmas: Saturday 14th December 2019

Restart post Christmas: Saturday 1st February 2020

Final playing day for season: Saturday 21st March 2019

Saturday morning games generally start at 9.30am (9.15 toss) and afternoon games (Limited Over 30 overs) start at 12.30pm (12.10pm toss). We recommend that all players bring a snack and drink to help energy levels. The format for the competition varies slightly for each grade; all playing rules and Draws can be viewed online at the Auckland Cricket association website.

Under 13 grade will run full season, but will be split into two half-seasons and require teams to re-enter after Christmas. This is to take into account the fact that these players move onto secondary school in the second half of the season and some will likely be playing secondary school cricket. The half-season re-entry allows clubs to establish how many players they will have returning to play in the Under 13 grades and, if necessary, alter the number of teams they wish to re-enter. In the school competition period after Christmas these Under 13 grades will start at 1.45pm on a Saturday afternoon and change to using a full size 156g ball.

Subscriptions for Under 13

Because Under 13 is split into two half seasons due to the school situation of the players either a half season fee of $100 or full season of $180 can be paid depending on the player’s situation.

Under 12 & 13 have mid-week practice session organised by their Parent Coach at a time that suits. In addition the Club will schedule the Director of cricket to assist with this regular team net coaching session’s .A coaching schedule for each team will be posted at the start of the season. All team parent coaches are encouraged to attend ACA Coach Qualification programmes. Details of these will be advised throughout the season.

Playing uniform – playing gear:

Children must wear the Kumeu Cricket Club polo shirt & KCC Cap which are able to be ordered online on the registration form and collected from the club house. Suitable footwear, such as sneakers, should be worn. White long pants are to be worn as these are often more comfortable when wearing cricket pads. A sunhat is essential. For all hardball cricket, the Club’s policy is that all players must wear a cricket helmet when batting and suggest that they acquire their own helmet to ensure best fit. While many players in these grades have some of their own playing equipment all teams are supplied with enough equipment to cater for players without their own gear.
